DTH operator Sky Brasil (AT&T) is strengthening its prepaid strategy in the country and intends to expand its presence in the retail market. The company has announced that wants to increase from current 3,000 to 10,000 the number of point-of-sales offering the prepaid service in 2017.
The company is confident that prepaid sales will more than double when compared to 2015, and the increasing the point-of-sales is one way to achieve that goal”, said in a statement the Sale Director of Sky, Sérgio Ribeiro.
Sky was a pioneer in launching prepaid services in Brazil. Early this year, the operator re-launched the offer with the introduction of new plans and channels. The strategy aims to reduce the high rates of churn with a low-cost product, having in mind the strong crisis that has been affecting the Brazilian market.
According to Ribero, “the prepaid option is well assimilated by Brazilians due to mobile telephony. We believe this is a natural evolution of the pay TV market”.
