Mexican DTH operator SKY (Televisa) will start offering telephony and Internet services in September in Mexico City and Toluca, SKY’s General Manager, Alexandre Penna, said in a conference with analysts.
Penna said they are working on this project, despite the obstacles they faced to access the infrastructure of Telmex (America Movil), El Universal reported.
“We have hundreds of complaints to the authorities about the issues we have faced in the process with Telmex, but we are in the process of progressing with the unbundling of the local loop,” he said. In this sense, Penna said that the access to Telmex’s infrastructure is not related to a regulatory issue but to the company’s compliance.
SKY is the largest pay TV operator in Mexico with more than 8 million subscribers at the end of the second quarter (including nearly 200 thousand subscribers from Central America and the Dominican Republic).
