Showmax to launch new original series ‘The Girl from St. Agnes’

Showmax has launched the first trailer for The Girl from St. Agnes and it looks like a creepy and fascinating adventure. 

The series is the second original show from the South African streaming service which will be launched for subscribers from Thursday, 31 January 2019. 

The eight-episode series was produced by Harriet Gavshon of Quizzical Pictures’ who drew on her own private school experiences for the show and has mostly a female crew.

Catharine Cooke won the Best Director in a TV Drama at the SAFTAs for iNumber Number and co-directed the show with Cindy Lee, who previously worked as the social media director on Netflix’s Black Mirror.

The dark drama focuses on the mysterious death of a girl at a prestigious boarding school and it was commissioned, produced, written and directed by women.

Produced in the midlands the show stars Robert Hobbs (District 9), Tyrone Keogh (24 Hours to Live), Tessa Jubber (Wallander), Karl Thaning (Dredd) and Shamilla Miller (Troy: Fall Of A City) among others.
