RTS to broadcast 52 FIFA World Cup games in Ecuador

Ecuadorian free-to-air channel RTS announced that it will broadcast 52 games of the soccer World Cup in Russia, in HD, of which 32 will be live. The coverage will be complemented with new special shows.
RTS already has experience in the transmission of this event. The station broadcasted Korea – Japan 2002 and Germany 2006 world cups, according to El Comercio. “We became pioneers in the new modality of soccer broadcasting; that learning was an important driving force to broadcast now, in HD, 52 of the 64 games,” said Xavier Valdez, national director of Sports at RTS.
In addition to the matches, the station will offer special programs, including “La Jornada”, which will have interviews and data on the matches of the day. In addition, the TV show “Copa” will offer a summary of the matches. In prime time, the channel will broadcast “La fiesta del gol”, a one-hour show with interviews with players and local celebrities.
RTS is available in HD in Guayaquil and the coast of the country in channel 4.1 of the DTT platform, while in Quito it is available in channel 5.1.
