Robi Axiata Limited, the mobile network operator of Bangladesh has partnered with Airtel (global brand of Bharti Enterprise of India) in Sylhet for the network integration process in the named region of Bangladesh.
Both users of Airtel and Robi will benefit from this combined network. While Airtel’s subscribers will have double coverage in addition to a superior internet speeds on a 3.5G network, uses of Robi network will have better internet speeds with enhanced coverage.
To get the superior network Airtel subscribers will have to go to Network option in the settings in their handset, and manually search and select any one of the options: Airtel/Airtel2G/ Airtel3G/ 47002/ Robi3G/ Robi axiata/BGDRobi/Aktel.
To recall, the fourth quarter of 2016 revealed a subscriber base of 33.8 million (after the merge) for Robi which represents a 26.9% (estimated) of industry subscriber market share and claims as 2nd largest operator in the country. The revenue growth for FY16 amounted to 0.5% compared to the preceding year and the data revenue registered underwent an increase totaling to 38.9%.
Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director and CEO of Robi, revealed: “We have successfully completed the final phase of merger with Airtel in the fourth quarter of 2016. The merger will ensure enhanced value for consumers and benefit the entire industry”.
