Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched Doordarshan’s Kisan TV, a 24-hour television channel.
At the inauguration ceremony held at the Vigyan Bhavan, PM Modi said that the channel could act as a link between agriculture scientists and farmers. The channel will currently air agriculture-based edutainment programmes in Hindi. Prasar Bharati Board chairman Surya Prakash has said that the content will be dubbed in other languages to better suit regional markets.
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has made it mandatory for all platforms to carry DD Kisan on prime band. All internet protocol television service providers as well as direct to home operators have been asked to deliver the channels to all subscribers.
