Peru: Movistar Play announces 1 million users

Movistar Play announced that it has reached more than 1 million registered users in Peru. Soon, the service will add new features and by 2019 it will integrate Netflix, HBO and Fox to its platform.
Movistar Play is available at no additional cost to residential and mobile customers. “We are committed to offer the best video content in line with the technological needs of our customers. Movistar Play has achieved approximately 1.1 million downloads, with more than 1 million registered users, becoming the leading Internet video platform in the Peruvian market, “said Luis Acuña, Marketing Director of Movistar.
According to figures from the company, more than 50% of the registered users consume the different live content and video on demand (VOD), with approximately 3.3 million hours consumed on the platform.
Acuña said the service “will add new features such as pause and reverse live programs and 24-hour catch-up on national and international channels. By 2019, we plan to integrate other video platforms within the Movistar Play environment such as Netflix, HBO and Fox, to improve and enhance the user experience.”
