The Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) of Mexico has published the statistical report for the fourth quarter of 2016. The pay TV market recorded 20.1 million subscribers, up 10% compared to Q4 2015.

Grupo Televisa leads with 61.2% market share in December 2016 (Sky 38.1%, Cablemás 8.7%, Cablevisión 5.1%, Televisión Internacional 3.3%, Cablevisión Red 3.1% y Cablecom 2.8%), followed by Dish-MVS with 16.7% and Megacable-MCM with 14.6%. Mexican regulator has corrected the Q316 figures for Dish, as it considered access instead of subscriptions. At the end of Q316 Dish had 3,318,250 subscribers.

According to IFT, pay TV penetration went from 56% in Q415 to 60% of Mexican households in Q416. However, there are states that surpass the national average: Querétaro, Quintana Roo, Nuevo Leon, Baja California and Baja California Sur, all of them with more than 70 accesses per 100 households.
