Streaming service Pantaya (a partnership between Lionsgate and Hemisphere Media Group) has teamed up with Sprint to offer Spanish-language films on mobile devices.
Hemisphere Chief Executive Officer Alan Sokol will participate in the next edition of NexTV CEO Latin America, the leading conference organized by Dataxis.
Sprint is the first carrier to collaborate with Pantaya and is offering an exclusive 45-day trial to its customer. After that period, the monthly subscription costs USD 5.99 and can be paid through the operator’s invoice.
Pantaya features a largest and varied selection of Spanish-language movies on a single platform. The service encompasses blockbusters and critically acclaimed films from Latin America and Hollywood; exclusive and first-run access to all Spanish-language releases from Pantelion Films, a joint venture between Lionsgate and Televisa; and a selection of films that will be available for streaming the same day they premiere in Latin America, a U.S. first.
“We’re honored to become the first carrier to work with Pantaya and to provide our customers unparalleled access to Spanish-language movies to stream on their terms,” said Alberto Lorente, vice president of Multicultural Marketing at Sprint. According to the executive, “Sprint has seen a significant growth among its Hispanic customers streaming content on their smartphones”.
In turn, Paul Presburger, Pantaya Chief Executive Officer commented: “There’s a great market opportunity in the Spanish-language streaming space, and we’ve launched Pantaya to deliver premium content curated exclusively for this audience.”
Pantaya is accessible through the web and on iOS, Android, Roku, Apple TV and Samsung Smart TVs in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, as well as to Prime members on Amazon Channels in the U.S.
NexTV CEO Latin America will be held on November 2 & 3 at The Baltimore hotel in Miami. Sokol will participate in the executive panel “International Distribution and OTT Strategies”.
