Nicaragua to carry out first DTT trial

The Nicaraguan Institute of Telecommunications and Post (Telcor) will carry out on March 21 the first DTT trial in the country, in cooperation with the Government of Japan, said the vice president of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo.
The first digital TV signals will be delivered through channel 6, the executive explained, according to El Nuevo Diario. For this initiative, new equipment and transmitters are being installed in El Crucero, a municipality located in the department of Managua, the capital of the country.
With the aim of moving towards digital television (the transition is expected to be completed in two years) , the Nicaraguan government has already signed -in May 2017- an understanding agreement with Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan, Megumi Kaneko.
Nicaragua selected the ISDB-T standard in 2015, as most of the countries of Central America (except Panama) and South America (except Colombia).
