News channel C9N, which is part of SNT group (Albavisión), is now available on free-to-air TV in cities Asunción, Encarnación, Ciudad del Este and Ybytyruzú, and pay TV systems Tigo Star and Claro TV.

C9N debuted on Monday, April 17, replacing Paraná TV (PTV) and is the first 24-hour news channel entirely produced in the country, local media reported. The general manager of Canal 9 SNT, Marcelo Fleitas, told Television.com.py that the new TV channel was created “based on the demand of the audience,” since “Paraguay is one of the countries that consumes the most news”.

C9N joins other news channels in the country as the brand new Noticias Paraguay (NPY), which was also released on April 17, although on pay-TV only. In this sense, Fleitas said C9N stands out because “it is a free-to-air channel” and therefore “has a different audience” to cable channels.
