Netflix to invest USD 200 million in Mexico next year

Netflix President and CEO, Reed Hastings, reported that the OTT will make a USD 200 million investment in Mexico in order to create content in the country during next year. The manager has also confirmed that Netflix will launch 50 series and movies in the country during 2020.

‘We are investing so much in many countries, but we are making an inversion valued at about USD 200 million for content productions in Mexico’ explained Netflix CEO during Mexico Siglo XXI, an event developed by Telmex Telcel Foundation.

The executive also expressed that the OTT aims  to develop content that can be appreciated globally, but that can also have a connection with local audiences. “I don’t think we are better than other companies to create this type of content. What we want is to be the best company in series and movies creation. We do this part well and we are happy, although we still have a long way to go to be the best movies and series  producer in the world’, he said.

Hastings also denied the possibility of Netflix to develop video games, sports and news. Recently, the company established its Latin American operations center in the country.
