Nintendo planning to offer Netflix, Amazon support on Switch console

Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed in an interview with The Washington Post that the company is working to bring streaming video services like Netfix and Amazon to Nintendo Switch. According to the executive, these platforms “will come in time”. The new console is available in Mexico, Chile and Brazil, among others Latin American countries.

This way, Fils-Aime taked about the lack of OTT video services. The new console, which was released on March 3, have received positive reviews, but was criticized for not offering streaming video platforms and a Web browser. However, Fils-Aime believes “these (services) are not differentiators. What differentiates us is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch and what you can play. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform”.

Both Amazon and Netflix have a presence in Latin America so adding support to these platforms could also benefit users in the region. Meanwhile, the company said the Switch has become Nintendo’s fastest-selling console in the United States, outpacing the record-selling Wii in its first two days of sales.
