Cable operators in Nepal have blocked Indian TV channels over the “blockade of goods” issue.
Nepal Cable Television Association has said that the blackout of the 42 Indian TV channels is indefinite. The operators are protesting against what is being called as an “unofficial blockade of goods,” reports BBC.
Several trucks carrying essential goods and services have been blocked from entering Nepal due to protests in the South border areas over the country’s new constitution. India has denied that it is intentionally prevented the trucks from entering the country.
Sushil Parajuli, President of the Federation of Nepal Cable Television Association (FNCTA) said that the cable operators had decided to shut Indian TV channel broadcasts as India has been intruding in the national sovereignty of Nepal,” reports Television Post.
