MultiChoices DStv and GOtv increase subscription rates in Nigeria

MultiChoice has revealed about an increase in the subscription rates of both of its channels DStv and GOtv. The change will take effect as from the beginning of next month, this year in Nigeria, with an increment of 5%.

John Ugbe, Managing Director of Multichoice Nigeria, revealed: “We announced last year that we would do everything possible to hold the price barring any extreme factors”.

“However, all our content is purchased in dollars and although we have done everything possible to hold the prices even with the price of everything else going up, we are now left with no choice but to adjust our subscription prices from May 1”, he added.

Subscribers of the DStv premium bouquet will now be paying 14700 NGN (47.92 USD) instead of 13980 NGN (45.57 USD), while GOtv subscribers will have to pay 1900 NGN (6.19 USD) instead of 1800 NGN (5.87 USD). The current rate of Compact Plus DStv being 9420 NGN (30.71 USD), customers will be paying 9900 NGN (32.27 USD), prior to the price change. Compact subscribers, on the other hand, will be charged 6300 NGN (20.54 USD) instead of 6000 NGN (19.56 USD).

Family bouquet will be priced at 3800 NGN (12.39 USD) instead of 3600 NGN (11.74 USD) and Access bouquet will be 1900 NGN (6.19USD) instead of 1800 NGN (5.87 USD). The Commercial bouquet will be available at 1850 NGN (6.03 USD) instead of 1720 NGN (5.61 USD). Nonetheless, access fee to HD decoders and extra view will remain unchanged at the rate of 2160 NGN (7.04 USD).

GOtv Value and GOtv Lite bouquets will accessible at 1300 NGN (4.24 USD) and 450 NGN (1.47 USD) instead of the current rates being 1200 NGN (3.91 USD) and 400 NGN (1.30 USD), respectively.
