MTN to roll out e-SIM technology for postpaid subscribers in SA

MTN will launch e-SIM technology for postpaid subscribers. At the moment, only iPhones and certain smartwatches support e-SIMs in South Africa. Vodacom introduced the technology in March.

An eSIM is a SIM that is inserted into the hardware of your device (a phone or wearable) so that your phone or wearables can connect to a network without the use of a physical SIM.

The e-Sim technology is now available on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 42mm. These watches are only available to MTN customers purchasing a 2-4-1 deal with the Samsung Galaxy Note10 or Note10+ on the newly upgraded MTN Made for Me or Sky Price plans.

The Executive for Corporate Affairs of MTN Africa, Jacqui O’Sullivan, stated, “We invested substantially in building the best mobile network in South Africa with the aim of offering our customers the best in innovation and an experience to match.”
