MTN, the second biggest mobile phone operator in South Africa just took a large blow with the announce of the closure for their Video On Demand (VOD) service. MTN FrontRow was launched in 2014 and later became known as VU offered music, movies and TV shows through smart devices.

The platform had problem retaining its customers even though the services offered many advantages such as zero-rated data on the MTN network for example. The MTV streaming business is not the first one to succumb in the country the like of Vidi shuted down in 2016 and Altech Node which will soon follow the steady walk toward the grave.

The successors are already present their name are Netflix the American giant and ONTAPtv owned by Hong Kong’s PCCW.
