Movistar starts partnership with Netflix in Peru

Movistar announced that it has started its partnership with Netflix in Peru this November. The company’s mobile postpaid and fixed services customers will be able to access the contents of the OTT platform through the new Smart set-top box, as well as via Movistar Play.
In a press release, Movistar said it became the first telco in the country to offer this option. The Netflix app will appear in the menu of the connected STBs and customers can subscribe, if they still do not have the service, or access with their username and password.
“The way of watching television has evolved and entertainment has strength in Internet platforms. Therefore, we simplify the lives of our customers by giving access to Netflix through Movistar Play and our new set-top boxes, “said Luis Acuña, director of Residential Marketing at Movistar Peru.
Movistar is the largest pay TV operator in Peru with 1.5 million subscribers at the end of Q318. In the same period, the company reported 13.47 million mobile accesses, of which 4.9 are postpaid customers.
