Mobile TV service, nexGtv, will telecast the 114th edition of French Open 2015. Subscribers can see live coverage of the event on their mobiles and PCs via the new OTT app.
Digivive Services’ nexGtv has won the exclusive rights to air the French Open on mobile and digital platforms. The VAS provider believes that the latest acquisition will help it strengthen its place in the Indian video OTT market, which is currently being dominated by Hotstar.
“If you go to the Android Store, after Hotstar, we are the next in terms of downloads and ratings. Of course, Hotstar is number one despite being launched later because of the Indian Premier League and the T20 World Cup. And they have exclusive rights and not giving it to anyone else. But last year and the year before last we had rights for the IPL and we were number one on the app store,” G.D. Singh director and CEO of Digivive told Medianama.
Digivive is a subsidiary of Media Matrix Solutions. Back in 2013, the company had announced that its mobile TV app, NexGtv had clocked seven million downloads within 12 months of its launch. Star India’s app Hotstar was launched in 2015 and saw as many as 10 million downloads in just 40 days.
