MIB ordered 11 TV channels to suspend their activities

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has asked 11 television channels to suspend their activities between the period of 2014 to 2017. The reason put forward was that they were responsible for airing content that violated the Programme and Advertisement codes.

Of the 11 accounted, six of them were entertainment ones and the rest were news channels. The channels concerned are WB, NTV, DY 365, NDTV Good Times, TLC, Satlon News, Jai Hind, Al Jazeera News, NDTV India, Care World and News Time Assam.

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, the Minister of State in the MIB, revealed that 11 TV channels are to hold on to their transmission for a period of one to thirty days in the last three years and the current year. Further according to the minister, orders were issued for channels like Star Plus, Sony TV, Channel V, Colors and MTV for content violation. Obscene content were being broadcasted in 30 instances between the year 2006 to 2010.
