MIB grants five TV channel licences

Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has granted five new television channel licences to Krishna Showbiz Services, R-Vision India and Malayalam Communications.

Krishna Showbiz will launch three general entertainment channels namely Dillagiii, Tak Dhina Din and Mauja Mostii. R-Vision India will launch a general entertainment channel in all Indian languages under the name, RVision. Malayalam Communications will introduce a news channel under the name, Arabia.

With these five new licences, the number of permitted private satellite TV channels in India has shot up to 826. This includes 405 news and current affairs channels and 421 non-news and current affairs channels, as on 31 December, 2014.
