The license of Shri News, the Hindi news and infotainment channel from Softline Media based in New Delhi, has been cancelled by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB).

Established in the year 1997, Softline Media has received the uplinking license from the MIB in 2006. However, the channel was introduced in 2012. The company’s group of directors is comprised of Ishwar Prakash Gupta, Sharad Kesarwani and Rishi Arora.

The news channel offers a collection of programmes which revolves around health, women, youth, real estate, automobile, entertainment and religion for a wide audience from different age groups.

A sister company of Softline Media, Shri Media Ventures, on the other hand, publishes ‘Shri Times from Lucknow’ in Hindi every day. The two companies form part of Shri Infratech which has real estate projects in numerous cities of Uttar Pradesh.

To recall, the MIB, has cancelled the permission of 169 TV channels as at February this year while issuing four TV channels during that same month. A channel in the news and current affairs category has been cancelled.
