Mexican baseball league returns to free-to-air TV with TV Azteca

Mexican broadcaster TV Azteca has closed an agreement with the Mexican baseball league (Liga Mexicana de Béisbol, LMB) to broadcast the “Serie del Rey 2017”, as well as the two 2018 championships and postseasons, through its new channel a+. This way, the LMB returns to free-to-air TV after more than two decades.

The “Serie del Rey” is available on a+ (channel 7.2) from September 5th. In 2018, the channel will broadcast up to three weekly games of the regular campaigns, as well as playoff games and the two final series, TV Azteca said in a statement.

Javier Salinas, CEO of the LMB, said that “for the league and its 16 teams it is an honor to reach this alliance with TV Azteca and its channel a+, as they will offer, after more than two decades and free of charge to more than 30 million fans, the series and hundreds of games during 2018.”
