Middle East Broadcasting Centre (MBC), one of the largest Dubai-based TV establishments, will launch MBC Bollywood as a FTA satellite channel in mid-October. The channel, available via Nilesat, will cater to the demand for Indian Bollywood films across the Middle East and Africa region with a portfolio of over 300 Hindi films – dubbed or sub-titled in Arabic.
The MBC group is estimated to have about 80 % of the advertising market in the Middle East and will enter the Bollywood-channel market as a strong competitor against its Indian counterparts, Zee Aflam and B4U Aflam.
MBC currently has a bouquet of 10 channels which reach nearly 300 million Arabs across the Middle East, Europe, Africa and South America. The channel recently moved its headquarters to Dubai Media City, bringing production closer to its Arab viewers.
