Mexican operator Megacable has selected ThinkAnalytics, developer of a multi-platform TV search and recommendations engine, to personalize Xview pay-TV customers’ linear and VOD experiences on set-top boxes, online and on mobile apps with recommendations based on their viewing preferences.
In addition, Megacable is reaping the benefits of ThinkBigData to gain valuable, granular insight into user behavior and the value of content to drive decision-making. As Megacable begins to understand individual user preferences, it will be able to take advantage of new revenue generating opportunities including dynamic ad insertion.
During NexTV Series Mexico & Central America, Gerardo Seifert, CMO of Megacable, had already anticipated that they were using this technology to provide recommendations related to the consumption habits and to offer related advertising.
Through the use of ThinkAnalytics unique machine learning techniques to analyze their interests and previous viewing behavior, the ThinkAnalytics search and recommendations engine makes it easy for Megacable’s pay-TV customers to discover new live TV and VOD content. According to the company, operators typically see a substantial uplift in viewer engagement after deploying ThinkAnalytics, with up to 70 to 90% of viewing resulting from intelligent search and content recommendations.
“We chose to partner with ThinkAnalytics for its worldwide leading position in search and recommendations and ThinkBigData because it offers a quick deployment and a substantial and rapid return on investment. By using the sophisticated analytics in ThinkBigData we will be breaking new ground by not just understanding household behavior but also getting real-time insight into preferences at the user level. This will give us the opportunity to monetize our platform investment as well as boosting subscriber loyalty and APRU,” said Seifert in a statement.
