Mauritius Telecom, the telecommunications service provider in the East African country, Mauritius, bagged the deal for the deployment of fiber optics on Rodrigues Island, the tenth district of Mauritius.
Launched in the year 2015 by the Central Procurement Board (CPB) for the submarine optical fiber on Rodrigues island, the tender offer has been won by the Mauritius Telecom and was known to be the only operator to have submitted an offer for this call.
The pact consists of the operator deploying up to 100 Gigabits per second (Gbps) for a period of 20 years. Mauritius Telecom will thus be providing an international bandwidth capacity of 10 Gbps. The following five years the data capacity should undergo an increase of 30 Gbps. From the eleventh to fifteenth year, the capacity for data will further upped to 50 Gbps and a capacity of 100 Gbps is to be reached by the sixteenth to twentieth year.
