Kwesé TV acquired Turner content via Econet Media

Econet Media the telecommunications group owned by Econet Wireless struck a multi-territory broadcast deal with American giant Turner for most of its kids and news channels.

This partnership will be put to good use on Kwese TV to deliver a premium family friendly bouquet with Turner content such as Cartoon network or the CNN package.  Joseph Hundah Econet Media President and CEO commented the new deal saying: “We are a relatively new broadcaster with ambitions to become one of Africa’s leading networks. Our objective is to give more viewers in Africa access to the best in international and local content. This agreement with a global leader like Turner strengthens our proposition and takes us closer to achieving our goal. Turner’s superior content offering will appeal to our diverse audiences across the continent.”

Turner reaffirmed its will to expand its presence in this continent, this is confirmed by Jaime Ondarza Turner Senior VP for Southern Europe and Africa who declared: “Partnering with Kwesé reflects our commitment to expand our presence and our consumer base across the African continent. With this new step in the development of TURNER in Africa, we bring our content to more fans and audiences, across more screens,”

Due to Kwese multi-platform offering the channels will also be coming on mobile app with DTH television. Soon Kwese audiences will have the Turner content available to them.
