Digivive, a subsidiary of Media Matrix Solutions in India offering wide series of infotainment applications, stated that their nexGTV, a mobile TV application has clocked 7 million downloads within 12 months of its launch in 2012. There were about 30 to 35 thousand downloads on an average per day with 45 to 50 thousand hours of viewing.
The company states that there is a huge demand for TV on the move and is progressing well due to the increasing data bandwidth availability through 3G and 4G networks in India. The firm is adding additional features such as social networking integration, genre-based classification and a search button for their nexGTV application.
GD Singh, Director, Digivive said, “60 to 70 % of our content is free. Our business model is subscription plus ad revenues. In line with the international standards 4-5 % of our user base is paid subscribers. On balance viewers we make money by ads”. The company is looking at becoming operationally break even within a year and is currently not looking at funding, but is not ruling it out reports Techcircle.in.
NexGTv is a mobile application that streams live television, provides options to replay TV channels and VOD services accessible through multiple device platforms like Android, Symbian, Blackberry and iOS. Media Matrix Solutions has already invested USD 15 million since its inception. DigiVive has partnered with BSNL, MTNL, RCOM and MTS to offer unlimited mobile TV service and has plans to expand its portfolio with other major operator partnerships.
