Indian origin Sun TV Network, which broadcasts more than 35 channels in 27 countries has announced its tie-up with Arasu Cable TV, a state-owned cable TV network .This tie-up will ensure the availability of entire list of Sun’s channels in Arasu Cable’s distribution system as declared by the Madras high court. Financial details of this deal are not yet revealed.
Arasu Cable TV managing director D. Vivekananda told Indiantelevision that the deal is for one-year and quoted “We will have all the 37 Sun network channels on our cable network”. Arasu Cable offers 148 channels including 50 pay-TV channels and 98 FTA reaching out to 5.5 million subscribers.
Arasu cable’s denial of telecasting Sun TV’s channels affected the latter’s viewership rate and financial performance in the past. This move puts an end to the long running negotiation between both the companies that escalated to Madras high court.
