Hungama Play, the video-on-demand provider in India is boosting its content collection with its most recent collaboration with ITV Studios, the British television company owned by ITV plc. Following the new deal, subscribers of Hungama Play will be able to stream popular titles like ‘Jekyll and Hyde’, ‘Mr Selfridge’, ‘Jericho’, ‘Agatha Christie’s Poirot’ and ‘Beowulf’, among others.
Users will be served with content encompassing action, comedy, drama, mystery from around the world. More than 23000 hours of video content alongside other features like the download manager, Gamification, gesture controlling and download scheduler, will be available to Hungama Play users.
Siddhartha Roy, the CEO of Hungama.com, said: “We are happy and excited to announce our partnership with ITV Studios, and offer world class, premium shows to Hungama Play users. This content acquisition is in line with the overall consumption on our platform and we are getting in more and more premium content to our users in order to drive enjoyable experiences”.
On the other hand, Hyeonza Hong, the SVP Asia for ITV Studios Global Entertainment, stated: “ITV Studios has a long and rich history producing world class content with a wide appeal. We are delighted to be working with Hungama Play, India’s leading VoD platform, to offer audiences across the Indian subcontinent an enriched content library”.
Alongside a vast movie collection of 8000 titles, the VOD platform has introduced content categories comprising of television, short films, music videos, kids, live events across genes and languages, with more than 45000 video pieces to choose from. It is to be noted that Hungama Play will soon introduce its original content with four new series.
