HOOQ, the Asian online streaming platform, is boosting its content offering with new titles pertaining the celebration of the International Women’s Day. Titles include both from Hollywood and Bollywood as well as from the regional cinema like ‘Jazbaa’, ‘Salt’, ‘Khoobsurat’, ‘The Dirty Picture’, ‘Ghilli’, ‘Black’ and ‘Ishqiya’.
‘Black’ was launched in 2005, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, featuring Rani Mukherji and Amitabh Bachchan. The film is all about a deaf and blind girl and her relationship with her teacher who later becomes an Alzheimer patient.
‘Ghilli’ is a Tamil action film produced by Sri Surya Movies, the production company. The main protagonists are Trisha and Vijay and the story revolves around a Kabaddi player saving a girl from getting married to a bad guy.
‘Ishqiya’ is a black comedy film with Naseeruddin Shah, Vidya Balan, Arshad Warsi and Salman Shahid in the lead roles, released in the year 2010. On the other hand, ‘Jazbaa’ was released in 2015. It is a crime thriller staring Aishwarya Rai and Irrfan Khan in the lead roles, with Shabana Azmi, Atul Kulkarni, Jackie Shroff and Chandan Roy Sanyal in supporting roles.
‘Khoobsurat’ features Sonam Kapoor, Kirron Kher, Ratna Pathak and Aamir Raza Hussain. It is an Indian comedy-drama film launched in 2014. ‘The Dirty Picture’ is an Indian biographical musical drama film based on the life of Silk Smitha and was released in 2011, co-produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor.
Elsewhere, ‘Salt’ is an American thriller film with Angelina Jolie, Liev Schreiber, Daniel Olbrychski, August Diehl and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, who is accused of being a Russian sleeper agent and goes on the run to try to clear her name.
