Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo reiterates the federal government wish to make Nigeria the leader in the African digital TV market during the launch of the new TV station Hi-Impact TV in Lagos.
Hi-Impact TV is a 24-hour station transmitting live from the heart of Hi-Impact Planet Amusement Park as from the 1st of June 2018 and broadcast on the Free-to-Air platform from ViewSat and other major cable platforms. Hi-Impact TV is expected to reach a wide and heterogeneous audience not only in Nigeria but across the continent.
During the launch, the Chairman of Solution Media, Prince Adeyanju Lipede, said the TV station will be ‘edutainment-based’, focusing mainly on education, entertainment and family.
Lipede added, “We have lined up quality programmes that will make quality time spent sitting behind screen worthwhile. We have employed professional teachers to take various subjects that usually pose problems to students writing both the senior and junior WASSCE papers as well as those preparing to write the UTME in addition to many quality and entertaining programmes.”
On the other hand, commenting the launch, Victoria Odimba, Marketing Executive declared, “We found out that we needed to drop the quality of our adverts to air on many TV stations. Dropping quality from High Definition to Standard Definition was frustrating after putting so much work in. It was the genesis of the idea to set up their own station.”
