MultiChoice’s terrestrial pay-TV service, GOtv, has been off air in Zimbabwe since January 31, 2014, and the operator is yet to provide reasons for the switch off or details of signal return. The service only launched in Harare, Zimbabwe, in March last year offering a bouquet of 26 channels at a low monthly cost of USD 6.50.
GOtv Zimbabwe has apologised for the problems and said that the issue was beyond its control. “We are discussing this matter with the relevant authorities and will update you soon,” the company said in a statement. “In the meantime please be assured that you are not being charged for GOtv during this period.”
The project is the brainchild of Transmedia Corporation which has partnered satellite television providers MultiChoice Zimbabwe and Skynet. Transmedia owns 30% of Go TV while MultiChoice and Skynet control 60% and 10% respectively.
