GolTV Play arrives in Canada with the Portuguese league

GolTV, the company that owns the TV rights to the soccer leagues in Uruguay and Ecuador, has begun streaming live matches of the Portuguese first division soccer league -Liga NOS- in Canada, via its new streaming OTT service GolTV Play.
The platform is offering five live weekly matches that include the top three teams – Benfica, Porto and Sporting CP plus other league matches that vary based on team schedules and standings. The service cost USD 9.90 per month and is currently available to residents of Canada only.
GolTV Play in Canada is GolTV’s inception into the OTT landscape and plans to continue expanding its streaming service with more properties and to more countries, the company explained in a press release. Since 2014, GolTV broadcasts the Portuguese league matches in the US.
“We are thrilled to expand our first class content to our neighbors in Canada,” said Rodrigo Lombello, CEO of GolTV. “We have had a great deal of interest from Canadian soccer fans asking us how they can watch the matches in the hometown. Now they will have access to all the best matches every week.”
