Globosat Play recorded 248% growth in VOD consumption

TV Everywhere platform Globosat Play recorded a 248% growth in video on-demand viewing in 2017, the company announced in a press release. In turn, the number of users increased by 36%.
Live video consumption, which in 2016 achieved record results thanks to coverage of the Rio Olympics, recorded a moderate 4% growth. The most watched VOD channels were SporTV (on computers), GloboNews (on mobile devices) and VIVA (on smart TVs). On the web, SporTV dominates between men aged 18-44. In turn, in the app for tablets and Smart TVs, VIVA is the favorite channel among women from 25 to 44 years.
According to the data provided by the company, 48% of VOD video consumption is through mobile devices and 52% in computers. On the other hand, 71% of the live video consumption is done via TV sets.
The interview with soccer player Neymar in the first episode of season two of “Lady Night” (Multishow) was the most watched video on the platform in 2017.
Globosat Play was launched in 2014 and allows pay TV subscribers to access the Globosat channels. The platform currently has 10,000 hours of content of channels GNT, Multishow, SporTV, Gloob, OFF, Mais Globosat, Canal Brasil, GloboNews, VIVA, Universal Channel, Syfy, Studio Universal, Bis and Megapix.
