Globo launches direct-to-consumer services Telecine and Premiere

Globo announced that it has launched Telecine and Premiere as direct-to-consumer services. This way, users can access the content without a pay TV subscription. As part of this process, the group launched a new billing platform.
Telecine is the network of Premium channels that Globo has in partnership with Disney, Fox and Universal. The SVOD service offers more than 1,800 titles for R$ 37.90 (USD 9.8) per month. On the other hand, Premiere broadcasts the matches of the local soccer league for R$ 79.90 (USD 20.8).
The announcement was made by Globoplay CEO, João Mesquita. The executive had already announced the launch of Telecine as a ‘standalone’ service during NexTV Series Brazil 2018.
The executive also announced that Globoplay will continue to increase its library with more international series. It currently has 16 titles but the plan is to reach 100 by the end of 2019, according to Folha de S. Paulo. It will also add more national productions. Globoplay has a monthly subscription of R$ 24.90 (USD 6.5).
