France 24 will launch a Spanish-language channel on September 25. Unitecnic, a subsidiary of Spanish company Mediapro, was selected for the commissioning of the new channel, which will be based in Bogota, capital of Colombia.
France 24 in Spanish will initially offer a six hours-programming, which will include news, magazines and documentaries. The company is currently finalizing agreements for distribution in the region.
Unitecnic, along with Overon, another Mediapro company, will link the new editorial office in Bogotá with France 24 headquarters in Paris. More than 60 professionals, including journalists and the echnical team, will work at the Bogotá headquarters.
The new Spanish-language channel will join the services already available in French, Arabic and English, which currently have a combined weekly audience of 50 million viewers. Channels are available in pay TV, DTT, mobile, tablet and connected TVs.
