Before his participation in the next edition of NexTV Series Mexico & Central America, the leading conference organized by Dataxis, Federico Alamán, SVP & Country Manager in Mexico of FOX Networks Group Latin America, spoke with NexTV News Latam about the FOX APP & TV streaming platform, which will expand its reach as standalone SVOD service, thanks to new agreements with digital platforms.
According to the executive, the company has already signed several new agreements in Mexico, including Claro Video (already announced last May), Google Play, iTunes Store and the payment platform Media Key. This way, users will be able to access the company’s seven premium channels without subscribing to traditional pay TV. This is the same business model that HBO is already deploying in the region. The expansion of the FOX platform will start next October, as the executive had already mentioned a few month ago.
Alamán believes that “the market will evolve to multi-OTT usability. That is, users will have more than one service and it is important in this evolution to remember that the user experience the price and quality of content will be the main drivers of the business.”
Currently, the FOX APP & TV platform, which is also available as TV Everywhere service for Pay TV clients, has an average of 900,000 users in Mexico, Alamán said. The average consumption is 75 minutes. Among the most viewed content are “The Walking Dead”, “Deadpool”, “Ice Age”, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, “X Men” and “Homeland”.
NexTV Series Mexico & Central America will be held on October 3 and 4 at the Presidente Intercontinental Hotel in Mexico City. Federico Alamán will participate in the executive panel “Subscription-based OTT strategies”.
