Four operators received authorisation for free-to-air television service in Ivory Coast

Authorisation has been granted by the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) in Ivory Coast. Four operators are allowed to carried out the operations of private commercial television service on the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) network.

Among the authorised operators are Life TV; Ivory Coast’s Optimum Media; Audiovisual Society of Ivory Coast; And Sorano Ivory Coast. Selected by “the College of Members of the HACA” from seven applications, these publishers have up to 12 months to start transmitting” programs, according to the HACA.

Two other operators, namely Telenum Ivory Coast and StarTimes Media Ivory Coast, were selected as well for the distribution of pay-TV services.

It is to be noted that earlier this year, the HACA launched two calls for tenders for the authorisation of ten services on the DTT network. This includes ten program publishers for the operation of aprivate commercial television service on the TNT network and two multiplex operators for the distribution of pay television services on the DTT network.

With these new private television operators, Ivory Coast thus bring the liberalisation of the television space in Ivory Coast.
