Filmbox expands in Africa with Bleusat

Global media company SPI International/Filmbox has recently signed a multi-channel distribution agreement with Bleusat which is a DTT operator in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. After operating its activities in Eastern Europe, SPI/Filmbox is targeting again the African market. SPI international/Filmbox has frequently been expanding its distribution across the African continent. Filmbox is providing services in more than 20 territories in Africa. Channels are being carried by diverse DTH platforms, cable networks, mobile TVs, IPTVs and over-the-top (OTT). SPI International/Filmbox announced in August 2017 that it was going to deliver 24/7 TV channels and a video-on-demand (VOD) service to the VeeTee mobile TV service in Nigeria, delivered by Africa’s leading telco MTN.

Bleusat is adding entire SPI’s African channel eight-pack to its TV line-up in the latest deal. FilmBox Africa with movies and TV series, FilmBox Art House featuring independent and classic films, DocuBox airing documentaries on nature and human civilisation, FightBox; a 24/7 combat sports channel broadcasting live MMA gala from Europe and the U.S, FashionBox devoted to fashion trends and shopping, 360TuneBox; an international music network and finally Gametoon, a brand new interactive eSports channel addressed to millenials.

Amit Karni, SPI’s head of distribution in Africa said, “we are glad to have launched our channels with Bleusat, which is our first partner in the Democratic Republic of Congo. SPI’s channels deliver diverse, top quality entertainment to viewers across Africa, offering also localised language versions.”
