FIFA World Cup to boost TV sales in Latam

This year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia will accelerate the sale of TV sets in Latin America, which is estimated to grow by 6.4%, according to data released during CES 2018.
Celso Barros, Regional Product Manager of Samsung, said at a press conference that this year will be marked by the renewal of larger screens and better resolution, Notimex reported. “We expect the total unit market to grow 6.4% to reach 24 million TV sets, while revenues will increase by 7.5% to USD 8.3 billion,” the executive said during the event held in Las Vegas.
In this context, the sale of UHD equipment will grow 55% to reach 5.7 million sales units, according to the data shared by Barros. Likewise, larger screens sales will increase by 29%, that is, 2.8 million units in Latin America. Samsung has 34% market share in global display market, while in Latin America it is 38%.
