Facebook to stream MLB games

Facebook has signed a deal with Major League Baseball (MLB) to stream 25 games this season, which will be distributed exclusively on Facebook Watch in the United States, and globally on the show Page, excluding select international markets. The first game will be broadcast on April 4 and it will be available on smartphones and connected televisions, among other supported devices.
The package of weekday games will be produced by MLB Network, which will introduce new in-game production elements specially designed for intuitively watching, sharing and interacting on Facebook, the company said in a press release.
“We’re excited to extend our partnership with Major League Baseball to make Facebook Watch a home for exclusive, live games every week this season,” commented Dan Reed, Facebook Head of Global Sports Partnerships.
Last week, Facebook also announced that it has signed a deal with the Mexican Baseball League (LMB) to exclusively stream 132 regular season games and eight Playoffs (four for each championship) during “Alfredo Harp Helú” Season 2018, through Facebook Live. The live streams will be available from March 22.
