Facebook launches Watch globally

After a year of its launch in the United States, Facebook announced the expansion of Watch worldwide. This is one of the main initiatives of the company, with an offer including original series, news and sports.
Watch is a tab within Facebook with original short and long-form content. The platform was launched in August last year in the U.S. and according to Fidji Simo, Head of Video at Facebook, “every month, more than 50 million people in the US come to watch videos for at least a minute in Watch — and total time spent watching videos in Watch has increased by 14X since the start of 2018”.
In a blog post, the company said Watch is a place to discover new videos and creators. In addition, users can save videos of the News Feed to watch them later in Watch.
To access Watch on iOS and Android, users must look for the Watch icon in their shortcuts bar or the “More” bookmark. They can also find Watch on Apple TV, Samsung Smart TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Xbox One, and Oculus TV.
Facebook also announced that it is expanding the Ad Breaks program so more partners can make money from their videos. Starting in September, this option will be available in several countries, many of them from Latin America, including Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, and the Dominican Republic.
