Qatar Satellite Company, Es’hailSat, has announced plans to launch a second Qatari satellite, Es’hail2, by the fourth quarter of 2016.
Ali Al-Kuwari, Chief Executive Officer in Es’hailSat, said that Es’hail2 will have more capacity to accommodate channels, security and quality. It will also accommodates Gulf and Arabic channels that have already submitted their applications for airing their channels via Es’hail2 as Es’hail1 reaches capacity.
Es’hailSat will offer bonds tenders for the manufacturing of Es’hail2 by April. The company had earlier launched Es’hail1 in collaboration with French satellite operator, Eutelsat, in August 2013.
