DSports acquires Chinese Leagues rights and more

DSport, the new sports premium channel from Discovery Communications, has acquired the rights of the Chinese Super League (CSL). The newly launched channel will be broadcasting the competition as from 11 March.

R.C Venkateish, the former MD of ESPN Star and CEO of Dish TV India, who is actually the guide of DSports, revealed: “It is just the beginning. We have also acquired rights for three other major national football leagues. Brazilian League, Major League Soccer (MLS) in the US and the official league of Portugal apart from the Chinese league means we will have round-the-clock football”.

Further, he said: “We have acquired the rights and the star-studded tournament will be telecast from March 11. Already big names like Oscar, Tevez have joined the league. We’re getting to hear that the Wayne Rooney deal with the Shanghai deal will be announced by the end of this month. We have arrived”.

It is to be noted that the channel has also bagged the rights to the Tour de France from this season and will air racing events like the Dubai World Cup and Melbourne Cup, alongside the Indian Derby which will be available next year.
