Starting this month, the Rio Olympics’ important events will be aired on Doordarshan National Channel in India. DD Sports on the other hand, has already started the broadcasting of pre-event programmes on the Olympics which is kicking off as from the 5 August to 18 September this year.
DD Sports has already on its lists, five shows that have been prepared and are related to the Rio Olympics 2016; Olympic Hour, Olympics flash Back, Mission Rio, Olympics Quiz and two episodes of ‘Poorvottar Ke Ratna’. ‘Olympics Konect’ is the weekly social media show revolving around the Olympics. The Olympics Hour will be broadcasting bulletins and studio-based discussion shows and news from the field of play and Olympics village. The show will last for an hour, including selected experts (sports persons, sports journalists, federation officials).
Olympics Flash Back is a 15-minute show, proffering its viewers with a flash back of the Olympics throughout history and its important moments. Mission Rio on the other hand, lasts for 30 minute and includes the sports personalities of India and specific sports showcased from actual location based on athletics, hockey, gymnastics, weightlifting, Wrestling and Archery.
The other show is Olympics Quiz, which is a 7 episodes’ series testing the knowledge level of school level students about games. The fifth show ‘Poorvottar Ke Ratna’ features the pathway of two athletes Shiva Thapa and Dipa Karmakar, two boxers of the North East.
