Dish TV, India’s DTH operator broadcasting 267 digital channels launched Standard STB Dish+. This is the country’s first SD-STB with USB recording feature. Dish + will be launched in 42 cities classified as Phase I and Phase II for digital transformation. The company plans to increase its market share in these major cities to 30 per cent by the end of this fiscal. Dish+ is priced as USD 30.60.
Dish+ can recorded programs directly through any USB drive however the content will be accessible after plugging into the STB. Customers can reap all benefits of recording and playing back programs, pausing or rewinding live TV, different play-back positions, event based recording (EBR), time based recording (TBR) as in a traditional DVR.
Salil Kapoor Chief Operating Officer Dish TV India, said, “Dish+ is a comeback of recorders in the living room and is a clear differentiator vis-à-vis other alternatives, including digital cable.” Dish is planning to invest USD 4.5 million for next 90 days to market this product.
