Dish TV India to hold its transmissions in MENA as ordered by Delhi HC

The Dish TV India, the direct-to-home (DTH) television operator, will not be able to transmit its programmes in the Middle East North African regions as ordered by the high court of Delhi. However, the company can carry out otherwise only if consent is obtained from the copyright holders of the content or a deal is signed with the broadcasters.

It was stated that Orbit Showtime Network (OSN) the direct broadcast satellite provider found in the MENA region, is transmitting channels in the region after striking specific deals for the transmission while Dish TV is screening the same content without OSN’s consent or copyright holders. Countries included are Afghanistan, Bahrain, Libya, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Iran, Iraq, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Yemen.

However, a spokesperson from Dish TV declared that: “We have not received a copy of the order and it has not been published on the high court’s website. We can only comment after evaluating the order”.
