DTH operator DirecTV plans to launch in April its new 4K Ultra HD set-top box for the next 2018 World Cup in Russia. The company recently announced the arrival of this new product in Argentina, as well as a commercial alliance with Samsung.
Through this agreement, the operator’s customers in Argentina will be able to access promotions when acquiring Samsung’s 4K TV sets. “Thanks to the quality of 4K UHD content from DirecTV and the 4K technology present in Samsung TVs, it is possible to live the most important sport for all Argentines in a true UHD experience, as if you were there,” Juan Caride, Director of TV sets at Samsung Argentina, said in a statement.
The new 4K UHD set-top box also has integrated wifi and DVR, which allows recording, pausing and rewinding live. It will offer an image resolution up to four times higher than the HD format.
DirecTV will announce in the next months the exact date of the launch of the equipment and all the information related to its purchase. Likewise, it will inform with Samsung about the details of the promotion for the purchase of TV sets.
During the presentation event, the operator showed, for the first time in Argentina, 4K UHD transmissions of matches of the Spanish soccer league. The company said that technical tests are still underway in Argentina to offer these same contents in 4K in the future.
