DirecTV announced the launch of a new prepaid HD kit in Argentina, with more than 40 additional channels in high definition. Users can make recharges starting from AR$ 190 (USD 7).
The prepaid HD kit costs AR$ 449 (USD 16.4) and can be purchased at any of the authorized points of sale, in main supermarket chains and home appliances and through the operator’s site. Some of the HD channels included in the offer are Warner, Fox, Sony, Hola TV, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Discovery Kids, TNT, Fox Sports, DirecTV Sports and ESPN.
The company launched the prepaid option in 2008, after identifying “a portion of the population that could not access pay TV services for not having the resources to pay a monthly subscription,” explained in a statement Matías Arana, Prepaid Product Manager at DirecTV South Region.
Now, the company said it decided to launch the prepaid HD due to the greater offer of high definition content, the advancement of technology and the high penetration of HDTVs (75% in the prepaid segment).
